Strangers was established in 2009 by Alex Sergeant and Samuel Maddocks with William Maddocks later joining the team in 2014. During the past five years they have been honing the craft and expanding their knowledge on the topic. Speciality coffee is their passion. Speaking to any member of staff soon demonstrates this, with all of them wiling to answer coffee-related queries or make recommendations to customers regardless of how busy they are. Alex has placed twice in the top 15 in the UK Barista Championships as well as coming 5th in the UK Latte Art competition in 2014. On top of this, Strangers has been shortlisted for a number of national awards by independent bodies, naming it amongst the top nine speciality coffee shops in the country as well as winning best coffee experience in the UK
