Delia Smith is without doubt a British legend 6 decades in the food business and top of her game with over 20 published best-selling cookery books. Countless times on television and now a power house in football – who would have thought.
At 79 she’s been a hairdresser, a pot wash, a model and now an Icon.
She works endlessly at Norwich City Football club, putting her name to the Catering there isn’t where it stops, she is hands on at every stage – working endlessly.
I was invited along as a food blogger and writer on a press night to see what they are doing there and to taste some fine American cooking down in Yellows.
Delia formed Delia’s Canary Catering 21 years ago with the Terrace top restaurant serving up fresh food from her recipes. It’s since grown in to a banqueting hall with function after function. The place to go for big events and corporate get-togethers.
Delia has an OBE and CBE starting her life in catering at the age of 21.
Her husband Michael Wynn Jones was the editor of the Daily Mirror, the first paper Delia wrote recipes for. They never had children but had huge love for Norwich city football club later becoming major shareholders.
Everything was going swimmingly turning over thousands on events until covid struck – as the country went in to lockdown, the doors were closed and the vast spaces empty.
They’re keen to get everything back up and running and have been awarded the go safety ahead by Visit England.
They prioritize over safety and have extensive measures in place.
Like form, QR entry, temperature checks, masks, sanitizing stations, and pleanty of space to spread the tables out.
They have 17 event rooms, 41 executive boxes available for private dining hire with your own waiter including the Terrace restaurant and Yellows American Grill and Bar.

So lets talk about the food – Delia herself told us that they don’t buy anything in like chain restaurants, they use local Norfolk produce when they can like Archers butchers for their burger meat in yellows, Bullards Gin for their bars, and seasonal where possible.
They have their own patisserie section. Where all their click and collect cakes are made.
Delias has been awarded the GOOD TO GO by Visit England. So you can Dine out and stay safe, Delias is a massive place that social distancing is no problem.

You don’t even have to like football – I don’t, I’ve never ever been to a proper match – my Auntie used to make me watch my uncle play for Lowestoft – I hated it and since then have avoided it like the plague.
