Farmyard is a Norwich based 'Bistronomy' style restaurant, where a relaxed 'bistro' experience meets the top quality produce and vibrant flavours normally found in "gastronomic" fine dining joints. Everything is prepared in our open kitchen, including the sourdough bread, baked every day using our "mother" and our handmade butter. Meat, fish and vegetables are cooked over charcoal on our "Bertha" oven for incredible flavour.
Our approach is simple; handpicked ingredients, great cooking, carefully chosen wine and knowledgeable service in a refreshingly contemporary space.
Open every day from Tuesday to Saturday we serve a daily changing a la carte menu using produce sourced from some of Norfolk's most passionate producers. We also serve a 2 or 3 course set-price menu between 12 and 2.30pm for lunch and between 5.30pm and 6.30pm for pre theatre dining.
After 12 years of working in high-end London restaurants for Michelin starred chefs such as Richard Corrigan and Claude Bosi, Norfolk reared Andrew Jones moved back home to launch his first venture, Farmyard.
Andrew was inspired by the wealth of produce we have here in Norfolk. He says ‘The countryside and coastline that we are surrounded by produces some of the best tasting food I’ve ever worked with. There’s a foodie critical mass forming, and I want Farmyard to be at the heart of it, dealing directly with the people who care as much about what they do as we do.
‘At Farmyard, my aim was to marry the skills and experience I’d learned while working in busy restaurants in Soho, Mayfair and the City with the incredible produce and passionate producers that we have in Norfolk and open the restaurant I’ve always wanted to work in.’
General Manager Ben Thompson has a unique approach to his job. He learned at a young age that ‘service is what you do for your guests, hospitality is how you make them feel’. He says ‘Ultimately, the skill of service doesn't matter as long as you have a hospitable heart. At Farmyard we have hospitable hearts and above all, we just really want you to enjoy yourself.’ Crucially, he also has impeccable music taste.
Since opening at the end of January 2017, Farmyard is gaining a reputation for great cooking, service and wine in a relaxed, contemporary space.
